PASCO Selected as Advanced Radar Satellite Data Service Provider
PASCO CORPORATION (Headquarter: Meguro-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter “PASCO”) has been selected by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) as the data service provider for the Advanced Land Observing Satellite “Daichi 4” (hereinafter “ALOS-4”). With this selection, PASCO will be responsible for providing satellite image data and distributing services for its utilization through a dedicated website (hereinafter “PLATFORM”).
Currently, PASCO provides the data observed by the Advanced Land Observing Satellite-2 “Daichi 2” (hereinafter “ALOS-2”) and will be the only data provider of both ALOS-2 and ALOS-4.
Additionally, this project will be carried out in collaboration with the Remote Sensing Technology Center of Japan (RESTEC) and Tellus Inc.
■About ALOS-4 As a successor to ALOS-2, the ALOS-4 is a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite launched in July 2024. It enhances the observation capabilities of Japan’s long-standing L-band SAR technology, particularly in monitoring crustal and land deformation. While maintaining a spatial resolution of 3m, the observation width has been expanded fourfold to 200km, enabling high-precision land deformation and subsidence monitoring. ALOS-4 continues the mission of ALOS-2, which includes day and night all-weather disaster observation, forest monitoring, and marine monitoring. It aims to achieve more advanced utilization and contribute to national resilience through measures such as infrastructure aging countermeasures.
